Cristy was born and raised here at CC Farm through our partnership with Warner Farm, a program long recognized for producing the old-style, heavy working Percherons that could work the farm all week and head to a horse show on the weekend ready to compete. Their horses became known for their exceptional temperaments, work ethic, eye appeal, and versatility.
More than 20 years ago, generations of those honest working partners and world-caliber champions became part of CC Farm. Since then, we've ridden, shown, owned, and sold Warner horses that have earned championships at every level, with several also going on to serve in mounted police units. Today, Warner bloodlines remain the backbone of our Percheron breeding program, and many of the Percherons and Percheron crosses we ride, show, and breed trace directly back to those horses.
Cristy is a beautiful example of what those genetics consistently produce. She represents the crossing of a heavy, traditional draft-type mare with a tall, massive, exceptionally well-bred stallion. Her pedigree carries many of the great, proven names that helped build the Percheron breed, on both the top and bottom sides.
But Cristy's story is about much more than pedigree.
She is a third-generation horse from our program. We owned her mother and her grandmother, and Cristy was born, raised, and trained here at CC Farm. She has been part of our lives from the very beginning. She was also the last foal Jim and I had together, making her place in our family and breeding program especially meaningful.
From the time she was young, Cristy has proven herself to be everything we could ask for in a partner: quiet-minded, willing, athletic, and remarkably versatile. She has been shown, ridden, and enjoyed here at home, but perhaps her greatest accomplishment has been the role she has played in bringing along the next generation.
As a three-year-old, Cristy helped my beginner daughter accomplish goals in the show ring that we'll never forget. Since then, she has carried my daughter through every new adventure, from her first draft horse shows under saddle and county fairs to her first state fair and major breed shows. With every new experience, Cristy has continued to prove that a great horse can do far more than win ribbons.
Cristy is a fierce competitor when she steps into the show ring, but that's only half of what makes her so special. She can compete at the open level with the best of them, then turn around and take care of a young rider in the youth classes. She knows when it's time to compete and she has the mind, patience and kindness to help a child learn, grow, and believe in herself.
For my daughter, Cristy is so much more than a champion. She's a best friend, a trusted partner, and the horse who has been there through so many firsts. Watching them grow together has been one of the most meaningful parts of this journey. That's the kind of horse we strive to produce at CC Farm. Not just one with the ability to win, but one with the heart to make a difference in someone's life. Cristy does both, and she does them exceptionally well.
Today, Cristy is much more than a riding horse or a broodmare. She is an important piece of our program's history and future. She is the last producing Warner mare in our breeding program, making every foal she raises that much more meaningful to us.
Through Cristy, we're preserving a program and a family of horses that have influenced CC Farm for more than two decades, while bringing the next generation along. She represents everything we strive to produce: size, substance, athleticism, exceptional disposition, and the kind of versatility that has defined our breeding program for over 20 years. A champion in the show ring. A teacher to the next generation. A best friend to a child. A legacy that began long before she was born. Cristy is everything we love about the Percheron.
